Posted by nolalou on July 28, 2008

I’ve had severe writers block for some time so I’ve changed the look to keep you from going into a blog coma, maybe the new meds will open my mind a little.

Best Commercial Ever

Posted by nolalou on February 26, 2008

Recently my son sent me an email featuring the video linked below with the heading “hey dad i think this is the best commercial ever…”. I cannot argue with him on this one, if it doesn’t stir up a high level of pride in you then you are either a communist or in need of antidepressants and intense therapy. In either case if you find this video even remotely bad or offensive, then i don’t want your kind reading my blog anyway…….

New Orleans coming back or what

Posted by nolalou on November 5, 2007

This week Ed Blakely (the recovery czar) said that they were finally going to rebuild and/or repair at least most of the police and fire stations! He stated, something to the effect that, there are business just waiting in the wings for this to happen before they build their businesses here. I hate to be pessimistic but there has to be a lot more done before I’d open a business in this city, and i was born and raised here and love most of it. Unless we’re talking a bar or restaurant, or maybe a Mardi Gras throws supplier, I’m not interested. This city needs new blood and a lot of it, and fast, we’ve hemorrhaged most of our brain power and tallent for thirty or so years, and what remained to try to struggle through got washed away with Katrina. Do i have the answer, no, I’m not about to say i have all the answers. I do know when my nose tells me something stinks, and there’s a lot of garbage and dirty laundry in the hamper.

We are not so long removed from our D.A. and a councilman resigning in disgrace. Our Inspector General has been begging in the media for money to fund his office, i would have thought that was a done deal already. I don’t go to the store BEFORE i have the money. Makes me think that this office was created to say “see we’re doing something about corruption”. Senators and congressmen accused of all kinds of immoral deeds and actions. Do you think this is the end of it, personally i do not! Some just haven’t been caught yet.

Levees.org  http://levees.org  just came out with a report that says the army corp of engineers used the American Society of Civil Engineers to evaluate them and their work. A group apparently so close to the corp that it seems their report cannot be trusted and should be thrown out. The real estate market is already depressed this can’t be good for selling a house, unless you’re buying and are willing to take a lot of risk.

What do we have that we could market, everyone already knows about carnival and the food. Well we have the Mississippi, there seems to be a drought everywhere. The people of Georgia are ratting each other for using too much water, reminisent of the old Soviet Union. Maybe we should consider piping some water to where they need it. We already have plenty of pipe suppliers and complimentary businesses, just pump water instead of oil. But I’m sure someone in political office would find a way to enrich themselves and their families.
